The Chariot is the first piece of two in a set titled "Emily Dickinson Speaks of Time and Eternity. " The second piece is titled "Forever is composed of Nows. " Both pieces have conservative ranges making them accessible to young developing choirs, and each piece features some unison writing, a canonic section, and easy four-part writing. The piano part cleverly adds interest while providing harmonic support for the singers.
