In the spirit of the renowned Summer Dances, yet at an easier level, this stellar work echoes the mood of the piece that launched the phenomenal career of composer Brian Balmages. After years of requests for a similar piece that is not as taxing, bands can now enjoy this exciting new work that maintains its own uniqueness with original themes and harmonies, while still alluding to Summer Dances in both style and form. with a few direct quotes thrown in. A huge addition to the repertoire. Summer Resounding. gets its name from two different sources of inspiration. For years, I have been asked to compose a work similar to my popular Summer Dances, but playable by slightly younger groups. The form and texture of the work comes directly from Summer Dances, though a completely new set of melodies and harmonies make up this composition. The title Summer Resounding. has a very resonating and colossal sound, reflecting both the intensity and charisma of the music. In addition, it literally can be seen as an "echo" of the original Summer Dances at an easier level, but with the same amount of energy and vitality. Designed for high school groups and upper-level middle school groups. Independence is encouraged, but many lines are cross-cued. Usually includes an expanded percussion section. Grades 3 - 3.5.
